Today, a coalition of leaders across philanthropy, industry, academia, and government unveiled the Vision for American Science and Technology (VAST)—a strategic framework to reignite U.S. leadership in scientific discovery and innovation. As global competition intensifies, VAST offers a bold, actionable roadmap to ensure American science remains at the forefront of progress.
VAST outlines key priorities, including:
- Empowering a world-class STEM workforce to fuel innovation and economic prosperity
- Strengthening fundamental research and scientific infrastructure to address national security, health, and environmental challenges
- Fostering cross-sector collaboration to break down barriers and maximize impact
The Science Philanthropy Alliance is proud to see President France Córdova among the distinguished contributors to this effort, bringing a critical perspective on how philanthropic investment can drive breakthroughs, sustain scientific talent, and accelerate solutions to society’s greatest challenges. We are also grateful to our Alliance partners the Simons Foundation, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Rita Allen Foundation, and Paul G. Allen Family Foundation for their generous support of this effort.
At the Science Philanthropy Alliance, we champion the role of philanthropy in catalyzing scientific progress. VAST’s recommendations reinforce the urgency of investment in curiosity-driven research—the foundation of future discoveries.
