Jason Maier has worked for 15 years as a strategic communications leader at the intersection of science and social impact. Prior to joining the Alliance, he was at Bill Gates’s private office managing communications for Gates’s investments in energy innovation and Alzheimer’s research. During his time there, Jason helped launch and lead communications for Breakthrough Energy Ventures—a $1 billion venture fund created by Gates and other billionaire investors to combat climate change. Earlier in his career, Jason worked with the Gates Foundation, Raikes Foundation, and Intellectual Ventures to amplify innovation and encourage giving for causes ranging from youth homelessness to agricultural science. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Idaho and a master’s dagree in communications from Johns Hopkins University.
