At the heart of our work is a unique model: our advisory services are offered at no cost to philanthropists, made possible by the generosity and shared vision of our members. This approach allows us to remain impartial, flexible, and fully focused on helping funders realize their goals.
We provide both emerging and established science funders with on-demand advisory services including landscape analyses, custom program design, and connections to leading scientific experts across disciplines. Beyond advising, we convene funders and leaders in academia and government to foster connection, learning, and innovation.
Our approach ensures our members and the broader science philanthropy community have the tools, insights, and relationships they need to drive meaningful, lasting impact.
About The Alliance
Since its founding in 2014, the Science Philanthropy Alliance has worked to inspire and increase philanthropic investment in discovery science across a wide range of disciplines.
We believe that basic research holds the potential to spark transformative breakthroughs.
The Alliance was established by six forward-looking foundations and philanthropists who believe that basic research holds the potential to spark transformative breakthroughs and who recognized the urgent need to strengthen discovery science amid plateauing federal support. Today, with 40 member organizations, we continue to inspire new and established funders to support science—and help direct that support where it can have the greatest impact.
In addition to our advising work, we cultivate a dynamic community of science philanthropists committed to shared learning, collaboration, and partnership. These connections not only amplify the work of individual funders but also elevate the visibility, effectiveness, and long-term promise of science philanthropy.
