Daren Ginete, Ph.D.
Daren R. Ginete is a values-based philanthropic advisor with expertise in research, healthcare, and philanthropy. Daren joined the Science Philanthropy Alliance in 2020 as an infectious disease fellow and then transitioned as a civic science fellow, and now serves as an advisor. Through his roles, Daren collaborates with funders in program development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as manages the Alliance’s shared interest group focused on values-informed grantmaking.
Motivated in advancing human and environmental health, Daren has extensive background in academia and healthcare. Over the years, Daren conducted fundamental science research at academic institutions across the United States, including in Nevada, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and California. As a healthcare administrator, Daren engaged directly with patients and healthcare providers to provide quality care.
Daren led initiatives at the intersection of science and society. He previously served as an editor for an Alliance series about the importance of basic research for the COVID-19 pandemic response (covid19prequels.com). He also worked in event programming and video production, including generating educational content for members of the STEM ecosystem and beyond.
Daren received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a B.A. in biology from the University of San Diego.
