The Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) seeks to improve the scientific understanding and treatment of autism spectrum disorders by funding innovative research of the highest quality and relevance.
The SFARI team focused on supporting genetics research, helped raise the quality of talent in the field of autism, and provided resources to the research community to accelerate discovery.
“When we began the SSC, scientists had only one gene identified as related to autism…Today there are about 100 genes that we can say with a high degree of certainty play a role in the condition.” – Gerald D. Fischbach, Distinguished Scientist and Fellow, Simons Foundation
