Elyse A. Hope, Ph.D., is the strategic initiative manager at the Science Philanthropy Alliance. Prior to joining the Alliance in 2023, she worked in the nonprofit research funding sector as a research and innovation manager at the Vancouver-based agency Genome British Columbia. In that role, Elyse developed new funding programs, including a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine research initiative with two partner nonprofit organizations and managed a multi-million dollar portfolio of life sciences projects. This work sat on the intersection of academia, industry, and government priorities, and her strategic analysis helped identify investment trends and gaps, work she continues at the Alliance through the lens of philanthropic giving.
Elyse earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Stanford University, and her earned her doctorate in genome sciences at the University of Washington. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the BC Cancer Agency.
